Novel approaches to a sustainable industrial «white» biotechnology
Meet our Experts
29 August - 2 September 2010 in Hamburg
5th International Congress on Biocatalysis (biocat2010)
Congress Chair: Professor Garabed Antranikian, Hamburg University of Technology, BIOCATALYSIS2021 Management
This meeting, which will be supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) will provide an ideal forum for the exchange of information between specialists from both the academic and industrial sectors._We will take care of a stimulating and open scientific atmosphere to foster the development of new collaborations. Industrial Biotechnology, making use of enzymes and whole cells, will play a significant role in the sustainable development of future key technologies such as biorefineries. The major topics to be addressed are:
- Enzyme discovery, recombinant production, evolution and design
- Structure-function analysis and modelling
- Enzymatic and whole cell biotransformations
- Bioprocess engineering and downstream processing
- Biorefinery and sustainable development of industrial processes

September 6 - September 10, 2010 in Greifswald
BIOKATALYSE2021 Summer School 2010
"Protein Engineering - Rational Design & Directed Evolution"
This course aims to provide a state-of-the-art overview about the various methods to allow an efficient and fast protein engineering. This should enable the participants to solve their future research problems more easily. The summer school will cover all modern methods ranging from rational protein design via focused directed evolution to pure random mutagenesis in combination with screening or selection. All methodologies will be presented and discussed in detail by international speakers active in the field. The course will be held in English. The summer school takes place from September 6 till September 10 at the Institute of Biochemistry Greifswald University. Registration fee is 390 Euro and includes detailed course material, consumables for laboratory experiments and coffee breaks. Organizers are Prof. Uwe T. Bornscheuer, Dr. Dominique Böttcher, (Institute of Biochemistry, Greifswald University, Greifswald), PD Dr. Susanne Brakmann, (Chemical Biology/BCMT, Technical University Dortmund, Dortmund, Germany), Prof. Karl Erich Jäger, (Institute of Molecular Enzyme Technology, Düsseldorf University, Düsseldorf, Germany). Cooperation Partner is DECHEMA e.V.
