"Biocat Award 2008" goes to partner of BIOCATALYSIS2021

(Sept. 2, 2008) Professor Uwe Bornscheuer has been honored with the Biocat Award 2008 in the category "Academic Research". He received the award during the 4th International Congress on Biocatalysis (biocat2008) held at the Hamburg University of Technology from August 31 till September 4. The award recognizes Uwe Bornscheuers' excellent scientific work in the development of tailor-made biocatalysts suitable for industrial applications.

Uwe Bornscheuer is Head of the Department of Biotechnology & Enzyme Catalysis, Institute of Biochemistry at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University Greifswald. As partner of the Cluster BIOCATALYSIS2021 he is the technology coordinator in the field of screening and enzyme optimizing.

The prize was given for the fourth time as an award for scientific excellence in the field of biocatalysis. This year's winners besides of Professor Uwe Bornscheuer are:

The Biocat Award was endowed in 2004 to honor outstanding scientists for their significant contribution to biocatalysis. The previous winners are: Professor Bernd Hauer, Professor Nick Turner, Professor Kaszlauskas, Professor Jon Stewart, Dr. Marcel Wubbolts and Professor Herfried Griengl.
